Westing Game Due 3/4

Who do you think is the murderer and why? Use examples from the text to support your answer. In addition, once you have posted your reflection, you must respond to another group member's post. Do you agree or disagree with their notion of who the murderer is? Why or why not? In total, this will be worth five points

  1. I think the murderer is Sydelle for many reasons. First, when they had the meeting about Sam Westing's death, she was wearing purple waves. Second, since no one pays attention to her it would be easy to get away with something like a murder. Third, Sydelle Pulaski is the "mistake" who was invited to live in Sunset Towers and participate in the game. In conclusion, I think Sydelle is the murderer who killed Sam Westing.

  2. I think Sydelle Pulaski is the murderer. She had murdered Mr. Westing and needed something to prove her innocent. So, she faked and injury that would cause more people to not consider her for the murderer. However, Chris Teodorkis is on to her. On page forty-one it notes that Chris notices that Sydelle Pulaski’s limp is a fake limp. In conclusion, Sydelle Pullaski is tricky, but will be caught.

  3. I think the murderer is Sydelle Pulaski because she is very mysterious. In the book it says that Sydelle says "No one ever notices Sydelle Pulaski, but now they will. Now they will." Also the book says that Sydelle has a fake limp. The book says that Sydelle threw down her crutches and ran out of the room. In my opinion, Sydelle Pulaski is probably the murderer.

  4. I think Sydelle Pulaski is the murderer. I think this hence. First, on page 52 it stated she “ran through the apartment with her crutch in the air”. This led me to believe she didn’t need her crutches for help with her limp, and instead made me think she carried her crutches as a disguised weapon. Second, on page 41, she denied she was the murderer, because nobody wants to admit they are the person who killed someone. Third, one of the clues said “purple waves” and Sydelle Pulaski’s dress at the funeral had purple waves on it, which I think might mean something. In conclusion I think Sydelle Pulaski is the murderer.

  5. I think that the murderer is Turtle. First, she swallowed the clues. She did not want anyone to know what she did. Next, she smiled when they brought up the notebook. She stole it and put it in Mr. Hoe’s restaurant to set him up. That’s why I think Turtle is the murderer.

  6. I think the murderer is Sydelle Pulaski. I think that because of a few clues. First, Sydelle Pulaski is the one who is always standing in the corner and no one notices her. On page 15 it says, “No one ever noticed. Sydelle Pulaski limped through the lobby. She could be carrying a high caliber rifle in that package and no one would notice.” If no one notices her, she could get away with MURDER. In addition, Chris saw a mysterious limping shadow go into the Westing House when he was looking out the window. That could have been Sydelle. Also, on page 56 it says, “Sydelle’s crutch was painted in black and white squares to match her black and white checkered dress.” The cover of the book has black and white checkers and I wonder if that might be important. –Ariana

  7. After reading John’s response I disagree strongly. I disagree because I do not think Turtle is the murderer. I do not think Turtle is the murderer because I think she ate the clues because she had memorized them and did not want to risk her clues to be looked at by other groups. I do not think she would steel the notebook because she had no idea that Angella had it. In conclusion, I do not think Turtle is the murderer.

  8. I think Sydelle Pulaski because she was wearing purple wave and turtle herd whispering about purple waves. Secondly, she never gets attention so she could murder without anyone noticing. Third she had a limp so she could be what Chris saw in the window.

  9. I agree with Ariana, for a plethora of reasons. First, we both think the purple waves on her dress at the funeral, had to do with something in the clues. Second, we both agree she has a fake limp and might be hiding something in her crutches. Lastly, I agree that she is not often noticed, so she could get away with everything. In conclusion I agree with Ariana’s guess of who the suspect might be.
