Book Thief due 1/21

What do you think of Liesel and Rudy's relationship? Is Rudy in love with Liesel, why or why not? Is their relationship a good one? How does Rudy's life affect Liesel?

  1. I think that Rudy loves Liesel. He always wants a kiss from her. Wherther it is because of a race or teaching her how to swim. Also, I assume thier relationship is a good one. They have fun together and get into trouble. When the steal things, they wait for each other so one won't get into trouble without the other. On page 165 it says,"Instintively, Liesel ran back." This shows that she cares for him in the sense that she doesn't want him to get into trouble.
Rudy gives Liesel a troublesome personality as well as a funny and nice one. She has learned how to fit in because of him.

  2. Rudy and Leisel have a very weird relationship. Rudy has a major crush on leisel. according to page 52,"*** the only thing worse than a boy who hates you is a boy that loves you***."Rudy has always been a ladies man since even when he was a baby. Rudy and Leisel also seem to enjoy calling each other names such as @#! scratcher. I think that Rudy and Leisel will be friends for a very very long time.

Rudy is a major part of Leisel's life. without Rudy,Leisel's life is like the void in space before the big bang. From playing soccer on Himmel street to helping deliver the load that Rosa irons, Rudy is always there for her. Another example of this is when they robbed that boy who was delivering food to those fat priests. Rudy and Leisel's friendship will last for a very long time.

  3. Liesel and Rudy have a very childish relationship, always teasing each other and seeing each others reaction to their names. They like to yell at each other and suddenly be sweet with one another. Agatha Christie would call this "the start of a very good relationship" as quoted from her book Three Act Tragedy. One of Rudy and Liesel's favorite things to call each other is a pig. Rudy however seems to enjoy calling her names over the top while Liesel stick to pig. Rudy seemed to enjoy calling Liesel an @$$ scratcher. It was one of the joys of childhood. Pg. 148. This is one of the examples of going over the top.
Rudy loves Liesel no matter how much he tries to conceal it. He always comes out at weird moments and tries to get her to kiss him. Rudy has always been a ladies man and when he meets Liesel he feels he has found the girl of his dream. I think Liesel likes to hide her feelings for Rudy. They have a good relationship that keeps them tied together as friends, for now anyway. They teach each other lessons that help draw them closer as friends. I predict that soon they will be drawn so much closer together.

  4. I think that Rudy and Liesel’s relationship is a good relationship is a good relationship because Rudy loves Liesel and Rudy is one of Liesel’s only friends. Rudy is definitely in love with Liesel because he always wants her to kiss him. For example, on page 53, he says “’ If I win I get to kiss you’”. Their relationship is good because Rudy is trying to “be good with the ladies” and Liesel wants a friend. Rudy’s life affects Liesel because Liesel doesn’t have many friends when she moves in on Himmel Street. Rudy is one of her only friends, along with Arthur and Max. I also thing Liesel likes Rudy on the inside.

  5. I think Liesel and Rudy's relationship is very weird. They hate each other one moment, and love each other the next. Even though they fight A LOT I think they love each other more than they dislike each other.
I beleive Rudy is in love with Leisel because she cares about her, and calls her a pig! If Rudy wasn't in love with Leisel, I don't think some of the stuff that is happening in the book now would be happening. Their relationship isn't that great of a relationship. They fight so much and I don't think "pig" is a very good nickname (because it makes her sound fat). Rudy's life affects Leisel's life because they are such good friends and they can't stop thinking about each other.
