The Tale of Despereaux Due 9/24

Desperaux is quite different from those around him. Please give examples from the text to support this statement. This is worth five points.

  1. Desperaux is quite different than those around him and he does not look or act like a normal mouse would. When Desperaux was born one of his family members said out loud, “he’s so small” and another mouse said “his eyes are open when there not supposed to be open”. Another mouse said “those are the biggest ears I’ve ever seen”. Not only does Desperaux look different he does not act like all the other mice. As when his sister took him to the library for the first time, he refused to eat the paper and instead he just had to read it. Desperaux’s unusual behavior, like letting the princess touch, see and talk to him just to hear the kings music, referred to as honey in the story, has led him to the dungeon where all the rats are. Desperaux is different than all the other mice and quite different from those around him.

  2. Despereaux is different from the other mice because he is not scared of humans. Instead of eating the books in the castle library he would much rather read the books. Also he has giant ears and is really tiny and everybody doubts him because of that. He also is very brave and is not afraid to talk to humans. Love is a human trait that Despereaux has.

  3. Desperaux is different from the other mice because he was born with his eyes open. When he was born, his brother Furlough said, “Dad, his eyes are open. His eyes aren’t supposed to be open.” Desperaux also had ridiculously big ears, was so small someone could mistake him for a bug, and was always sick. His aunts and uncles weren’t very welcoming either. Desperaux wasn’t different only in looks, but also in behavior. While his brothers and sisters searched for crumbs, he listened to a sweet sound. When he told his brother about the sound, he said, ”I hear the sound of crumbs dropping on the floor.” Desperaux didn’t want to scamper around. He didn’t want to nibble on paper either. Desperaux wanted to look at the light and read the story that was on the paper. Desperaux was like no other mouse. That is what brought him to the princess.

  4. Despereaux is very different from the other mice. For example, from the very start he was different because he was ridiculously small. He had humungous ears, and he was born with his eyes open. But it was more than just his looks that were different. Despereaux also seemed to love music and all the other mice could care less. He loved stories. His sister tried to teach him how to eat the big book in the library that was wide open, but instead of eating it, he read it. Another example is that Despereaux sat at the foot of the king and let the Princess Pea hold him, and then he talked to the princess and fell in love with her. Also, when the mouse council wanted Despereaux to apologize, he said, “no,” which no other mouse would dare to do. So it’s clear that Despereaux is very different from every other mouse in the kingdom. He is fearless, strong willed, and creative.

  5. Despereaux had well his brother said he had unusually large ears. He was born with his eyes open and likes to be touched by humans. Despraux can even talk to humans. He can read words but his brother said he's talking to the paper. Even his own brother would take him to the dungeon!!!! That proves he is a little eh more like he has a lot of wierd stuff on him.
