I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis.
I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
How does the unusual setting of the story shape the structure of Poirot's investigation? What advantages does it give him? What challenges does it present? Use examples from the text to support your answer. This is worth a total of five points.
In “Murder on the Orient Express”, being stranded in the Alps has pros and cons. One pro is that the murderer cannot escape. That is also a con because the murderer is trapped with the rest of the passengers. That could cause another murder. Another pro is that everyone is accessible. Poirot can very easily get information by having the conductor summon any suspect. A con is that everyone’s luggage is accessible and the murderer can slip a weapon into another passenger’s luggage to frame them. Those are some pros and cons about the unusual setting of “Murder on the Orient Express”. kobe
The unusual setting gives poirot both an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage is that the muderer cant leve the train because of the snow. That is the advanatge. The disadvantage is, that the murderer is very cunning and he/ she leaves invalid evidence. Those are both the advantage and the disadvanage. The challenge is also the disadvantage.
I think the setting changes Poirot's investigation in many ways. One way it helps is that it narrows down who could have murdered Ratchett. One way it hurts is that he can not talk with other detectives for help. Another way it hurts is that `he has to figure out who is/are the murderer(s). I think this setting changes Poirot's investigation. -Eric
The environment of the train gives Poirot some advantages and some disadvantages. An advantage is that he can search the baggage of the passengers rather than a whole house; yet there is still a disadvantage in that matter. The passengers can easily switch their baggage with somebody else. Another convenience is that Poirot can interview the passengers easily. In conclusion, there are some conveniences and disadvantages of being a detective in a train. -Oliver
