The Thief Lord Due 3/22

The merry-go-round in The Thief Lord turns out to have magical powers (it can make people older or younger). Did Scipio made the right decision? What about Renzo and Morosina? Do you believe these characters found the happiness they were seeking after their ride on the merry-go-round? Do you think Prosper ever regretted not taking a ride? Would you have taken the ride????

  1. In the Thief Lord the merry go round was in fact magical. I believe Scipio did not make the right decision because even though you might want to become an adult living through child hood experiences are even better. Renzo and Morosina made a good choice turning back into children because if your life was bad as a child wouldn’t you want to relive it and make it better than it was. I also think that all of the characters found their own happiness somehow after they rode on the merry go round. Renzo and Morosina found it by reliving their childhood and Scipio found it by becoming an adult. I think that Prosper didn’t regret not riding on the merry go round because protecting Bo is his biggest priority right now. If I got the chance to ride on the merry go round I would decline because I wouldn’t want to miss anything in the future or relive anything.

  2. The merry go round had powers to make people older or younger. I think that Scipio did not mace a good choice because then he would not have a long life. Renzo and Morosina made a good choice because then they could live a better rest of their life when they turned into kids. I think prosper didn't regret not going on the ride because he had to take care of Bo. If i got the chance to ride I wouldn't because I wouldn't live the life I could live if I stayed as a kid.

  3. Scipio did not make the correct decision because he was so giddy and excited that he did not think of the consequences and cons of being an adult. I think Renzo and Morosina on the other hand, made the right decision because they knew what they were doing and this is what they were planning to do their whole lives. I do believe that these characters made happiness and peace in their lives. I also think that Prosper was happy that he did not take a ride because he has Bo and his friends. I would not have taken a ride because then all my precious childhood would be gone. -Zoee

  4. I think Scipio made both the wrong and right decision to take a ride on the marry-go round. First, I think he made the wrong decision because he didn’t visit his friends that often and he lived in a cold and cruddy hotel. Where at his dads house Scipio had servants. I think he made the right decision because eventually he would have to live on his own. Yet he wouldn’t know how to because he relies on his servants. So, this was a good thing to learn. Also, since he is miserable at his dads house if he ran away his dad would find him. Being older helps him run away because his dad would be looking for a kid not an adult. I think Renzo and Morosina made the right decision to ride on the marry-go round because they spent their whole lives trying to find the marry-go round lion wing, and they were very old and could die soon of old age. Though the wing broke, thanks to Barbarossa, they can have time to find a way to fix the wing since they are young again. I believe the characters found happiness by riding on the marry-go round because Scipio got away from his dad and Renzo and Morosina could stay with the marry-go round the rest of their lives if they fixed the broken wing because they could keep taking rides on it. I don’t think Prosper regretted not taking a ride on the marry-go round. Since he wanted to be with Bo, Hornet, and Ida Spavento so, if he took a ride he wouldn’t be able to live with them because he was a grown up. I wouldn’t have taken a ride because I wouldn’t want to live by myself. Plus, I wouldn’t want to take a ride because my childhood is very good and I wouldn’t want to risk it.

  5. I think scipio did not make the right desicion. I think this because I understand that he might want to be an adult at the moment, but I also think that it is somewhat stupid because he could miss important things in his life. Morosina and Renzo made a good desicion to turn themselves into children on the Merry-Go-Round because they might want to relive their childhood or they did not want to die, but meerly wanted to live longer. Even though what Scipio did was stupid he, Renzo, and Morosina did find happiness in their own ways. Scipio wanted to become an adult and did, which made him happy. Renzo and Morosina are happy because they get to relive their lives and live longer. i don't think Prosper regretted not taking the ride because he understood that even though times might be bad, they would get better. Also, he might want more respect than he has as a kid, but he knows that that is no good reason to give up his life and miss it. I would not have taken the ride because I don't want to miss anything in the fute like, going to college or being a dancer.

  6. In the Thief Lord the merry go round was magical. I believe Scipio did make the right decision because it made him happy. Renzo and Morosina made a good choice because they, unlike Scipio liked their life as it was but wanted to live longer. I also think that all of the characters found their own happiness after they rode on the merry go round. I think that Prosper didn’t regret not riding on the merry go round because Bo was his biggest priority right now and it would have messed up his childhood. If I got the chance to ride on the merry go round I would decline because I wouldn’t want stop my childhood and have friends 20 years younger than me.
