  1. I think Sam Westing did what he did because he wanted to bring the residents of the Sunset Towers together. He exceeds to do this by letting them play a game of mystery and have it end in harmony. He especially does this at the end when they blow up the Westing House, but they did it filled with laughter and love. It was odd that the whole point of the game was to punish Crow even though it turns out that Sam Westing (Barney Northrup, Sandy McSoutherns, and J.R. Eastman) died of old age. I believe that his motive was to have a little fun in the tiny town of Westingtown. Even though the whole point was to find out who killed Mr. Westing. The characters still find some time to laugh and learn new things they never knew were possible. In conclusion, I think that Sam Westing did it to have a little fun and bring the residents together a little bit more. His motive was to play a game and that is exactly what he did.

  2. I think Sam Westing did what he did because he wanted to see what it was like to be other people. So, he dressed up as, Barney Northrup, Sandy McSouthers, and J.J. Eastman. His motive was to see what his heirs would do knowing they could win lots of money. Also, he wanted to see which of his heirs were smart enough to figure out his game.

  3. I think Sam Westing did what he did because he was thought to be dead, so he pretended he was, and got a new identity. His motive was probably that he was an old sick man, and he wanted to see how much people really cared about him. Also, he may have wanted to see life from a different perspective, and what happened to his business. Finally, I thought that he wanted to see his poor wife Crow and how she was doing and comfort her. In conclusion, I think Sam Westing did what he did because he wanted to see what would happen.
