I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis.
I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
Why is education important in Afghanistan? How can being educated hurt your life? Use text examples to support your answer. Please respond to this post as well as another group member's post. This is worth a total of five points.
I think education is important in Afghanistan because you can out smart the Taliban if they try to attack you. A quote that describes this is “why did you go to England for your education?” the soldiers yelled at father. Afghanistan doesn’t need your foreign ideas!” from page 31. Education can also affect your life because you could get taken away by the Taliban so they can have you read and write for them. Cameron
edugation is very important in afghanistan because not many get to have girls never getting it. It can hurt you because if a girl was caught going to school she could get get extremely injured or even killed. In the text it says that Parvana missed school and missed seeing her friends.
Education is important because we need it to count money, find better deals, write and read, and everything related. Some people are payed to read letters!"her father finished reading the man's letter a second time. The customer thanked him and paid."(pg 9)If we didn't have education, we would be almost like any other animal, unable to formulate complex thoughts and queries. life, The fact that books are not welcome."They couldn't be allowed to find Father's books!"(pg 32) OSCAR
I agree with Erik and Cameron. The Taliban is definitely cold-blooded enough to take you. Plus the Taliban kept women from going to school."They even forbade girls to go to school."(pg 7) OSCAR
I agree with cameron because what he said is true the Taliban do take people away to make them write for the Taliban's sake. I also think that if they went to school and got education they could definitely out smart the Taliban.
I think it would stink big time without school! I'm so glad that we have school. I feel so bad for Parvana. I think the Taliban are just against and afraid of education because they never got any and they think smart people might be able to outwit them in a fight. Thats why the Taliban don't want books; they might have books that tell about war and war strategies, they might be able to beat the Taliban. No girls are allowed to learn anything and Parvana's school was bombed.
EriK, I agree that that quote fits what you are saying. Afghanistan really does need his "foreign ideas" because England seems to be running rather fine compared to Afghanistan. Camilla
I think education is important in Afghanistan because they need to be able to out-smart the Taliban. Because, the smarter they are the more they will be able to make changes in their country and protect themselves. So someday, they can live their lives like they did before the wars.
I agree with Camilla because, it would really suck without school. If you lived your life without education and if you were a woman, you would stay home and clean, and do all the dirty work.
I agree with Erik because it isn't fair most girls can't go to school. Even before the taliban! And girls that couldn't get in to school wouldn't be as educated. It's so unfair! -avery
First of all, Parvana's father was educated and knows how to read and write. Parvana knows almost as good as him. In the marketplace, they earn money from reading and writing. This is good.
I agree with Sam because without an education,(no school) you have to stay home, clean and get bored like the women! Since you can't read, you can't sit down and read a book... if you don't get caught by the Taliban. ~Tabitha

I agree with Erik’s because hardly any girls got to go to school even before the Taliban came. I don’t get why they don’t let girls go to school.

We need education to count, read and write, but it can hurt our lives by having the Taliban know and throw us in jail.
