Hunger Games due 10/22

What do you think is the cruelest part of the "Hunger Games?" What kind of people would devise this spectacle for the entertainment of their populace? Can you see parallels between these Games and the society that condones them, and other events and cultures in the history of the world?

  1. I think the cruelest part in the hunger games is when suzanne collins killed Rue. it was cruel to kill katniss' only ally. it connects with several things in the world, including the roman collisuim, they would make some gladiators fight against eachother. also, like in the hunger games the gamakers minipulate what they do. i hate the boy from district 1 when he killed rue. i think that is the cruelest part in the hunger games.

  2. I think that the cruelest part of the Hunger Games is that they make dead people into mutts. It would be especially cruel if someone had formed a close alliance and got killed by the mutts. ' They are unmistakably human. And that revelation has barely registered when I notice the collar with the number 1 inlaid with jewels and the whole horrible thing hits me. The blonde hair, the green eyes, the number...it's Glimmer.' [pg.333]That is what I think is the cruelest part of the Games.

  3. I think the cruelest part was the murdering of Rue. She was only 11, and she got stabbed in the stomach by a boy from District 1. The people who watch the killing as entertainment are cruel, and unfair. You shouldn't just take people and make them fight to the death. I think that Panem is all like the Capitol. Cruel and evil.

  4. I think the cruelest part of the Hunger Games is the killing ( especially of poor Rue). Imagine being locked up in an arena with twenty-four other people that want you dead. And so do the people that made these games- The Capitol. They are so cruel and evil. I wonder what happened to these people to make them do these things. Maybe a bombing, a natural disaster or something worse. They make these games to show that they are in complete power, but something horrible must have happened to make them this way.

You could say that they did have gladiators in the real world but there were only two people. Also there aren't the game makers which shoot fireballs at you and make mutts of the dead to kill you. On pg.175, Katniss is in a fireball attack designed by the Game makers, she thinks "Theres no time to judge if a move is the correct one. When there's a hiss, I act or die" I don't think anything in real life compares to the Reaping.

  5. I think that the cruelest part of the Hunger Games is when the mutations appear. One of Katniss' only friends, Rue, was turned into a wolf-zombie. "And worst of all, the smallest mut, with dark glossy fur, huge brown eyes and a collar that reads 11 in woven straw. Teeth barred in hatred. Rue..."(p.g.334). The evil game makers thought it would make this the best Hunger Games yet, and some how, the audience loved it. The games remind me of gladiators and bullfighting. You battle to the death, and there can only be one winner. The king decides if the gladiator lives or dies. It's the same thing with the hunger games, except they can do any thing from shoot grapes at you, to levitating you, to just killing you in some gruesome way. That's what I think about the cruel Hunger Games and the people who make them.

  6. I think that the cruelest part in the Hunger Games is the part where Katniss finds out that the muts are the mutations of the dead tributes. They were designed to hate the remaining tributes like the Rue mut. I think that the Romans and Panem have some similarities like watching people die for fun but the gamemakers can manulipate the situation and that is the differance. I think that the Hunger Games is the best book I have ever read. I wish that the author did not kill Rue because she is the best charcter in the book aside from Katniss

  7. I think the crulest part was Peeta's leg injuries. It- no they were horrible! And in the end, he even got a fake leg! I was flabbergasted!
'"New leg?" I say, and I can't help reaching out and pulling up the bottom`of Peeta's pants. "Oh, no," I whisper, taking in the metal-and-plastic device that has taken place of his flesh.'
