I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis.
I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
What is it about out-with that makes Bruno feel "very cold and unsafe?" (page 20) How is this feeling perpetuated as he encounters people like Pavel, Maria and Lieutenant Kotler?
There are people with no clothes other than pajamas and striped caps. He must not feel bad for them because he is very snotty saying "they must never have baths". I would feel bad for them, but I know what is happening. Bruno really doesn't like Lieutenant Kotler. Pavel is quite a mystery to Bruno, but I think that he is forced to serve Bruno and his family.
Out-With makes Bruno feel unsafe because (I think) it has an uneven plainness and a strange insanity to the monotonous dressings and people. I don't think he knows Pavel(I believe him to be a Jew because of how Lieutenant Kotler treats him) but he likes him. Bruno loves Maria and Gretel does too but Gretel doesn't have the best attitude towards her. He doesn't like lieutenant Kotler because the way he treats Pavel and how he calls him "little man". Lizzy
I think Bruno is feeling unsafe because there is now-one to relate to. even when he meets shmul he has no similar traits to him but his age. also the reason could be he is living in a new place without the comforts of home. samantha
In out with, Bruno feels unsafe, because he sees all these strangely dressed people who live in huts. Bruno is very curious about these people, but Gretel must dislike them. She said they must never take baths. Bruno doesn't like lieutenant Kotler because of the way he calls him 'little man'. avery
Bruno is in a place that is unsafe and different to him. How would you feel if one day you just moved to a completely different place without saying good-bye. you would be scared. The people he encounters on this journey are different and scary, I know Bruno sees these people a lot but actually talking face to face aloe or with one other person can be scary, because you don't know them personally.
Bruno has strong feelings about the out-with because it makes him feel cold and empty and he knows that something is diffrent and strange about the out-with. Later he probaly feels unsafe because of the insucurity of not knowing who the people in the "striped pajamas" are and being confused that his dad said "those aren't people," wich is a nother level of feeling very cold in the out-with.
Bruno feels unsafe in the Out With because it's not as big and he has no friends there. Bruno doesn't like Lieutenant Kolter because he seems dangerous and calls him "little man". He likes Pavel, but he's unsure whether to trust him. He doesn't feel much comfort with Maria anymore, since she likes it at the Out with. ~Camryn
