Shadow of a Bull

In the book it says the following about Manolo's father," your father was a noble man. A man of honor. A man of pride. He would never do anything he did not really want to do." Explain why this quote is important to the ending of the book.

  1. After Monolo is told that his father was a man that would not do what he did not want to do, he got agrivated because he felt he was forced to bullfight but he didn't want to. This is important to the ending of the book because just to make the people happy, kind of like his father. After he was told the statement about Monolo probobly would of been a bullfighter his father he is told "Remember Monolo, in the end, it is all between you and God." by Castillo. So Monolo tries to bullfight and he tells the truth. He does not want to be a bullfighter and he says so.

  2. This quote is important in the end because if manolo is anything like his father he would not do something he did not want to do and he did not want to be a bullfighter but a bullfighter doctor because it was what he wanted to do. I think that the book was very suprising at the end because we went through all that only to come up with him being to cowardly to fight the best bread bull of the century and he gives it to a poor boy which I think was kind of nice. On the other hand he ended up with what he wanted to do and had lots of fun withe his new best friend, Juan.

  3. This is important at the end because like it said in the quote he didn't do what he didn't want to so Manolo is probally going to end up like a doctor not a bullfighter like everybody thinks he shoulsd be. So he will take the signifacance of his father and do what he wants to do.

  4. This quote is important to the end of the book because it shows Manolo he shouldn't have to be a bullfighter just because his dad was a great one. All throughout the book Manolo doesn't want to be a bullfighter but feels that he has to. If he didn't here that he might become a bullfighter from the preasure and never become what he wanted to be,a doctor.

  5. That quote is important in the book because it shows that Juan Oliver actualy wanted to bullfight. It also shows that Monolo didn't have to bullfight and he could be a doctor instead.

  6. I think the quoute ," your father was a noble man. A man of honor. A man of pride. He would never do anything he did not really want to do." is important because it kind of sums up the story. It's like the "then they lived happily ever after" part of the story. I personaly would have liked him to be a bullfighter not a bullfighting doctor. But, as his father would do, hechose what he wanted to do and let Juan fight the bull.
