- I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis. I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
I think Katniss doesn’t really like Panem that much because of the Hunger Games, the Capitol, and the poorness of her district. On pg 117, Katniss thinks, " All I can think about is how unjust the whole thing is, the Hunger Games. Why am I hopping around trying to please people I hate?"
ReplyDeleteI think Katniss has to make her face "an indifferent mask" and be careful what she says in public because of the saftey of herself and her family. If she would have said bad things about the capitol or the Hunger Games,she might have been sent to jail.

Katniss doesn't really like Panem. There are a lot of things she hates, for example she is really nervous about the Hunger Games. She also misses Gale and her family, and isn't a huge fan of Peeta. She must feel ashamed for shooting the bow and arrow at the Gamemakers station. She really doesn't like the Capitol. The only things she does like are Cinna. On page 122 it says "'What about me? Could you think of me as a friend?' asks Cinna. Of all the people I've met since I left home, Cinna is by far my favorite." She doesn't dislike the red-headed lady either. I thought she wouldn't like her at first.
ReplyDeleteShe needs to make her face "an in different mask" and be careful what she says in public because she doesn't want the world to know about her personal life. She doesn't want anybody to know about Gale. She knows that her mother and her sister wouldn't appreciate it if she told thw world all about them. She doesn't want to say anything bad about District 12.
I think Katniss hates her country because of the mining of Sean and her father's death.On page 5, it says "he was blown to bits in a mine explosion." She doesn't want anything to happen to he mother or Prim. Katniss tries to make her face into "a different mask" so They stay safe.

Katniss hates everything about the Capitol. She thinks the Hunger Games is horrible. She purposely defies the Capitol by going into the woods, past the "electrified" fence, knowing the consequences (pg 17: "Anyway Gale and I agree that if we had to choose between dying of hunger and a bullet in the head, the bullet would be much quicker.").
ReplyDeleteKatniss has to make her face an indifferent mask because if she said stuff about hers and Gale's hunting or bad stuff about the Games,she would be imprisoned for life by the evil Capitol, along with her sister, her mother, even ugly old Buttercup might be slaughtered.
If katniss had to choose her favorite countrty, Panem would not be it. The main cause is probably the Hunger Games, she doesn't like the idea of the capitol forcing people to kill each other just for entertainment. According to page 19 " look how we take your children and there's nothing you can do, if you lift a finger we wil destroy you just like we did with distcrict 13, " this is only one reason why Katniss hates Panem. She needs to be careful on what she says in public for many reasons. One of these reasons is that if the capitol found out that Katniss was talking smack about them she would be thrown in jail, killed, or forced to be a slave like that servant girl.
