Thief Lord due 11/10

Prosper, Bo, and their friends are all orphans. But why do they all choose to live on their own? What are the advantages of their lifestyle? What are its potential dangers? What other options do they have? How was Ida raised when she was an orphan girl?

  1. I think that some advantages of that lifestyle are no one telling you what to do or no chores. But I also think that there are more dangers like getting taken away or you can go to jail. Sometimes you can die because you can’t get money to buy food or water and you can starve. Ida’s life was different then the others for a plethora of reasons. For one her orphanage was much better then the entire group. She mentioned playing happy in the attic and her orphanage had the magic merry-go-round. But I think that she still thinks about her birth parents and all her family. (“I used to play up there by the dovecotes," she said.)

  2. Prosper,bo and their friends are all orphans. They all chose this life style for various reasons. Like when they where in the orphanage they where treated a little bad. Also you’re free and no one can tell you what to do or when to do it. Then the bad side, when you grow up you won’t have an educated life or a good job. Also when they robed Ida, what if the got caught they would go to jail. The only other option is to go back to an orphanage witch they obviously don’t want to do.

Ida how ever had a different life in the orphanage she described it like it was a happy place but then she said that she didn’t like it .

  3. I think that Prosper, Bo, Scipio, Hornet, Riccio, and Mosca like to live alone because they might think that living on your own means that there will not be any dumb rules or adults telling them what to do. The advantages of living on your own is that there is no dumb rules, adults to tell you what to do, you can choose if you want candy or fancy food for your meals and you can choose to own a dog or a cat and choose what breed and choose what its name will be without the agreement of other people. The potential dangers of living on your own is that one night there might be a fire or a robber broke into your home you would not have anybody to protect you. Ida had a different life at the orphanage. In the book, the thief lord asks "you played in the orphanage? what were you doing there?' Ida stroked her hair back 'I lived there. I was there for more than ten years. they weren’t exactly my happiest ten years.'"(page 179)
because of those exact words I think that when she was in the orphanage, it was a terrible place for her.

  4. the reason bo and prosper chose the lifestyle as being orphans is because they thought orphanage's were boring. kids have much advantages, like; they dont get tired as fast as adults do. thy are more fit. they are able to be more free than adults. yet much dangers await. they could go to jail. they could break a leg. they could die. i am suprised that Ida didnt turn the group of snide little thieves into the police. when ida was a kid she was raised in an orphanage and she thought of it as a happy place yet she still did not like it.

  5. The advantage that the orphans have are that they aren’t nagged ALL DAY LONG they have the power to make their own decisions which make them feel more responsible.
The potential dangers that the orphans face is their hideout being found and them being separated. Another one is that Ethser will find Bo and Prosper. And even bigger one is that their hideout will be found.

Ida was raised by the Merciful sisters in an odd way she never got adopted by the looks of things. She seemed to have had a sad childhood

  6. Some advantages of Prosper, Bo and their friends' lifestyle are, not having to go to boarding school and not having to do chores around the house. Some of its potential dangers are getting robbed, drowning in a canal, going to jail or the orphanage and many more dangers. The other options they have are to give-up hiding in an old movie theater and try to actually earn some money. The other options Prosper and Bo have is to leave all their friends behind and go back home to their step-mom/aunt/ their mother's sister. They would still have to go to boarding school, though. When Ida was an orphan girl, she said that they treated her nicely. But, at the end of her story, Ida said that she liked it, even though thy treated her with respect and love.
