  1. Anne Frank's life was very boring, and with her mother talking badly about her, it is even worse. To make her life "normal" she likes to listen to the radio, read, and learn. On page 85, she writes, "Ordinary people don't know what books mean to us, shut up here. Reading, learning, and the radio are our amusements." There is not much more Anne could to in the "Secret Annex." So I find this quote to be her way of making life normal.

  2. Anne Frank had a very difficult, yet simple life in the attic. She had only books, her diary, and a tiny radio for entertainment. On page 84 she says, "It is really true that as the news outside gets worse, so the radio with its miraculous voice helps us to keep up our morale and to say again, 'Chins up, stick it out, better times will come.'" I believe that was one of her ways to make herself feel like a normal and hopeful girl. Furthermore, they had no games or television, and never even went outside. Since Anne desperately wished to have a normal life, and wanted to go outside, another way she tried to pretend to be normal was by secretly staring out the window at the large tree and the many people walking below. I think doing so made her feel like she was one of those people on the streets, enjoying the fresh, outdoor air that she never got to feel. She hoped for the war to end, but more than anything, to be happy.
