I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis.
I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
I think neither of the sides have the advantage in the war. Each side has its advantages and disadvantages. The clankers have to oil their machines and warm up the engines, but they also have advantages like bullet proof armor and weopons. On the other hand, the beasties can die and have to be fed, but they can float with hydrogen.
This is really tough to decide, since each sides have major advantages and disadvantages. The Clankers have advantages because of the protective armor around them. They are much less likely to be damaged compared to a Beastie. Also, they have built in cannons and other weapons. Although, they need fuel to be refilled often, and need the right parts when harmed. On pg. 126, Volger expresses his annoyance while needing parts by saying " Horses would have been better," Beasties are very strong, and can scare enemies. They can float in the air unlike most Clankers. On the other hand, they have some major disadvantages. They need a ton of food (especially the Leviathan who almost died because lack of it). In an area without food, a Beastie would not survive. They also need to be kept the right temperature like Dr.Barlow's mysterious eggs. Looking over all of this, I think the Clankers have the advantage, because their creations don't need as much attention and care. Although, either side could win the war.
I think the Clankers have the advantage because of their non-living vehicles. Although beasties can “hunt for its own food, or heal it’s self, or reproduce” (Pg. 273), they need food, water and oxygen. All walkers need is fuel, ammo and pilots and are ready to go. All though pilots have needs, they can carry their supplies onboard the walker or machine. Beasties can also die of harm, age or disease. Walkers can withstand more attacks and have the ‘big guns’ that beasties lack. Jack
It depends on what aspect you are looking at it from. in the terms of weapons and armor, the Clankers win, if you are looking at escape routes and strategies, the Beasties win. Even though both sides have a chance, the Clankers have a better chance. They can fight, have guns, and bullet proof armor that makes it hard to hit. The Beasties will win the war though, because both main characters are on that side. The Leviathan is also a Beastie, he is the ship they are on. Both sides have advantages and disadvantages, but if these were modern times, the Clankers would win.
Both sides have their advantages and disadvantages in the war, but the clankers have the advantage. For example when Alek's stormwalker's cannon was pointed at the Leviathan, every person that was stationed on the Leviathan cowered at the power of the armored cyklop stormwalker. Plus the only thing that can really dent clanker armor is the flechette bats, but they would just shoot them out of the sky first. Then again, when most beasties fall they're able to get themselves back on their feet, while clankers usually can't do that. In conclusion, though both sides need a endless supply of fuel, and each side has their pros and cons, the clankers have the edge in the war.
Like I said above, I think neither of the sides have the advantage in the war. Each side has its advantages and disadvantages. The clankers habe disadvantages such as oil in the machine and waiting for the engines to warm up. Their advantages are bullet proof armor and weapons. On the other hand, the beasties can die, and are alive so they need to be fed. They also have advantages like they can float with hydrogen. "Well, if your 'beasties' are so wonderful, then how did the Germans shoot you down? With machines." -page 274/275
I think the Clankers have the advantage with machines. The machines never tire or perish, they only require experience. Beasties tend to get nervous and they do not have armor. Also, they must be fed and they require sleep. You can't light a match aboard a Beastie without blowing yourself sky-high. However, in a Clanker, you can have a bonfire. I think Clankers always should win.
