Holes Due 10/22

Life in Camp Green Lake is difficult to say the least. What is a typical day like? How does Stanley survive in such harsh conditions? Use examples from the text to support your answer. This post should be a MINIMUM of five sentences. In addition, please make sure that you check for capitalization and grammar errors. This is worth five points.

  1. A typical day in camp green lake is pretty harsh. First you wake up at 4:30 in the morning, second, you eat breakfast, third, dig a hole finally you can take a shower and you can go to the wreak room. While you are digging the water truck comes and fills up your canteen. Your hole has to be 5 feet wide and five feet deep. Sometimes if you find something special and the warden likes it, you can have the rest of the day off. That is a typical day at camp green lake.

  3. A typical day for Stanley, at Camp Green Lake, is something you would not want to do on a regular basis. The day first starts out when Stanley wakes up at four thirty in the morning to go to breakfast wearing his so called “dirty clothes”. Then after breakfast, he sets out to go dig his hole, but he only gets a little way before Zero completely finishes his own 5 foot by 5 foot hole. Then they take a break, while the Warden comes to fill the canteens. After they drink from their canteens and enjoy a not very tasty lunch, Zero helped him finish his hole so he would have enough energy to teach Zero how to read and write.

At the end of the day they go back to the cabins to take a four minute freezing cold shower, which I think might be nice after digging in the hot sun for a couple of hours. After his shower Stanley can choose to go to the rec room but instead he helps Zero with his learning. After teaching it’s off to dinner and into bed for a restful night of sleep. And that is a typical day at Camp Green Lake for Stanley Yelnats.

  4. LIfe in Camp Green Lake is very difficult. A typical day at Camp Green Lake is very hard because it is hot. When you get up at 4:30 you are digging in the coldest part of the day. When your first at Camp Green Lake It seems harsh to get up at 4:30 for example: "Do we really have to get up at 4:30?" Twitch asked. So if your at Camp Green Lake behave and dig quick!

  5. A typical day in camp green lake is quite harsh. Stanley survives his day by being brave and doing what he has to do. You have to get up at 4:30 in the morning. Everyone has to dig a hole that’s five feet deep and five feet wide. On page 27 it says “the shovels were five feet from the tip of the steel blade to the end of the wooden shaft”. So Stanley can use his shovel to measure his hole. When you are done with your hole you have to walk all the way back to camp to take a shower and have dinner. Stanley normally goes to his tent so he can teach Zero how to read, instead of going to the Wreck Room. It is actually a rec. room, but on page 43 it says “A sign on the door said WRECK ROOM”. Probably because the room is a complete wreck: the TV is smashed, the couch has rips and holes, and there is a tiny fan that barely works. This is a typical day. On other days, An example of Stanley being brave is when he took the blame for the stolen sunflower seeds. He also was brave enough to steal Mr. Sir’s truck and drive it into a hole then run away all just to find Zero. Stanley does what he has to do every single day where ever he is no matter what.

  6. A typical day at Camp Green Lake involves exhausting hard work. Stanley wakes up at 4:30 a.m. Then he goes to breakfast and has mushy gross food, but he doesn't mind, because at least he has food. Next, he goes out to dig a hole. He survives it because he gets his canteen refilled with water. He also has help digging from Zero because they made a deal. When he finishes digging his hole he takes a cold shower and puts on different clothes. Then he goes to the rec room to help coach Zero on how to read and write. Then Stanley heads to dinner, and again, it's gross, but he doesn't mind. After dinner he heads to bed to get plenty of rest for the new day. Stanley survives because of help from Zero and plenty of water.
