- I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for my undergrad. I have a Masters in Elementary Education from Regis. I come from a family with four kids. My sister is a teacher in Chicago. One of my brothers lives here and the other one lives in Chicago. I moved here because my husband loved Colorado and I loved him. As it turns out,I love Colorado as well.
Desperaux is different because he can read and not all mice can. He let the princess touch him and that is breaking the mouse law. He does not learn like the others, so everybody thinks he is weird. He was born with his eyes open, which according to the book, has never happened before. That is how I think Desperaux is different.

If you were a mouse and you looked at Despereaux you would think he was a freak because of him being so small but having such big ears. Here are some examples of mean things that people said. I think the most hurtful thing that someone said was by the mother, hear it is “oh you are such a disappointment I shall never have any more mouse babies”. Another mean thing that someone said was from the king, and this is what the king said “no you can’t keep that mouse it is related to rats and you know how much we hate rats in this kingdom”. That is how mean some people can be to people who don’t fit in.

I agree because a lot of reasons.One is that Desperaux was born with his eyes open.But for mice that's unusual and his brothers and sister think he is freaky looking. Also he has very big ears unlike his siblings. There are lots of other reasons but those are my opinions.

despereaux is differt then others because desperaeux wants to help others and has hopes and dreams like no other mouse of his kind. so i think 1 other reason is that his does not obey the law. he goes up to humans and trys to help the princess.

Desperaux is different from the mice around him because he was born with his eyes wide open unlike other mice in the castle. He also talks to humans and reads. He has the biggest ears in his family and people think he's freaky looking. I think his favorite thing to do is hear the king's music. That is just a start of the weird things about Desperaux.
