  1. I think the woman in the window is a woman who sees how hard Parvana's life is and wants to help by sending little gifts. When Parvana got the gifts she became happier and felt more appreciated and worked harder. Why I think Deborah Ellis included the woman in the window in the book is to restore Parvana's hope. In the beginning of the book Parvana feels lonely when her father is sent to prison, and when she gets the gifts she starts to get hope back and then her father returns from prison.

  2. I thing that the window woman is to show hope and to people.I also think the window woman to show that peoples lives aren't as bad as they think they are. They are luck not to live in Afganistan. I think the woman in the window is Shausia. I think Shausia knew Parvana from the begining. Shausia could have told her at any time.

  3. I think the woman in the window is just a kind person and likes to help other people in need. She gives Parvana little presents to sell to earn a little more money for Parvana's family. Since Parvana's father is in prision the kind woman knows she is sad and try's to help her feel better with little presents. I think the woman in the window knows Parvana's secret that she is a girl not a boy.

  4. I think that Deborah Ellis included the Women in the Window in her book is so that Parvana didn't give up hope. Her family could be dead and her father is in prison so the gifts from the women made Parvana regain her hope, little by little she gets happier. She feels that she is working for a reason, she works harder and with more effort because of the gifts. The women knows Parvana's life is hard and so she sends her little gifts. Parvana gets this and thinks of the women as a friend. So, when Parvana leaves to find her family she leaves the women a gift, a flower where she usually sets her blanket. Parvana felt more appreciated by the women and they were secret friends.

  5. I think the lady in the window is in the book because she gives Parvan hope. She also gives Parvan some thing for Parvan to hope for. The lady also has Parvan plant flowers which brings happiness to Afghanistan. The also makes Parvan happy when her dad is away.

  6. In The Breadwinner, I think the lady in the window is a rich woman who became poor because of the bombings. Although she is poor, she still has all those bracelets. So, I think Deborah Ellis included her in The Breadwinner because she's kind of like the “hopegiver” because she gives hope by giving those bracelets to Parvana. And I think Deborah Ellis wrote that she kept getting better aim while giving her all the bracelets and fabrics in a kind of hopeful way and that's kind of like giving her hope for the story.
